4 Common Types of Fire

Fire can start unexpectedly anytime or anywhere. Learning different types of fire may help us prevent the risk of starting the fire.

1. KITCHEN Fire: This is the most common type of Fire. Kitchen is the source of many hazards of the fire, electricity, water and grease we use for cooking our food in our daily life. Grease Fire is really dangerous because it can get out of control and can spread all over the room and into the whole house. A lot of homeowners leave their frying pan stove unattended. When the Pan overheats, it can catch fire. Fire can cause serious injury and property damages. Appliances can also catch fires especially when the electricity is in contact with water.
2. ELECTRICAL: This is caused by broken appliances, faulty wiring, electrical outlets and breaker boxes. Older Homes usually doesn’t have enough capacity to handle large amount of electrical appliances. Old wiring inside can cause shorts that triggers fire.
3. HEATER: Fire usually happens in winter months. It is recommended to buy portable heaters with automatic shutoffs because they tend to overheat. The rule is to put the heater at least three (3) feet from anything combustible.
4. SMOKING: Smoking fires usually started by igniting on furniture, bedding and trash cans. Smokers should pay attention to be sure that their cigarettes are extinguished before emptying ashtrays. No one should smoke in bed. Never put your ashtrays on flammable surfaces like couches and bed.
